NuHorizon Water and Environment Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. was established in May 2026 under the Companies Act 2013 by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. It is recognized as a Startup by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, and is also registered with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprise (MSME), Govt. of India. We work with various stakeholders, including Governments & Ministries, ULBs involved in water, sanitation, urban infrastructure, wastewater management, water reuse and circular economy; policy makers, regulators, R&D, funders, investors, management consultancy firms, and companies dealing in wastewater treatment and water reuse business. Dr. Nupur Bahadur
Dr. Nupur Bahadur is a visionary leader in the water & environmental sustainability sectors with 26 years of career dedicated to nation-building and advancing UN SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). As the Founder & Managing Director of her consultancy, she brings together deep scientific expertise, policy influence and technopreneurial drive to deliver transformative impact at the intersection of clean water & environment. She is KPMG Certified Independent Director.
Her career spans across academia to advanced R&D, Innovation, technology commercialization, institutional strengthening and high-impact project delivery resolving real-world solutions at national and international platforms.
As the Subject Matter Expert with KPMG for Delhi Jal Board (DJB), she was instrumental in drafting Treated Water Reuse Policy & prepared Water Reuse Projects for Delhi, worked on technologies for sludge mgmt and energy efficiency in water & wastewater treatment. She reviewed Water Reuse Policies of all 28 States & 8 UTs of India.
Recommendations from a World Bank funded project for Bengaluru Water Supply & Sewerage Board (BWSSB) (2023-2024) shaped nine new STP projects worth INR 1000 Crore. Her study on frothing in River Yamuna, commissioned by Delhi Govt, directly contributed to Froth-Free Yamuna in 2025. Her adequacy assessments of CETPs and ZLD Plants helped resolving NGT matters. Report on GHG emission inventorization from India's domestic wastewater sector, funded by Tetra Tech & USEPA was invited by UNECE and presented at the Global Methane Forum in March 2024 at Palais des Nations, UN Geneva.
A Scientist of distinction, she holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from IIT Roorkee (2005). Having 27 publications with 1733 citations and avg Impact Factor 9+ (Google Scholar). She is the inventor of TADOX® (Advanced Oxidation) Technology an internationally awarded, nationally acclaimed advanced oxidation technology for industrial & municipal wastewater treatment and holds several patents & TM to her credit.
A leader on the global stage, Dr. Bahadur is a Fellow of the International Water Association and serves as the Chair of IWA India. She is member of National Committees of CPCB, India DST, FICCI & ICC Water Committees, Juries of International Water Awards and Programme Committee of Singapore International Water Week (2019-2022) & IFAT India National Advisory Committee (2024-2026).
